"magic eye" monitoring convinces in the Chinese market: Open-die forging press made by Siempelkamp for Pangang Jiangyou Changcheng

Krefeld, February 05th, 2021 – Innovative digital concepts made by Siempelkamp are gaining acceptance: In January, the Chinese company Pangang Jiangyou Changcheng Special Steel Co, Ltd, placed an order with Siempelkamp for a 31.5/35 MN open-die forging press with a 2-column push-down design. Within the scope of the tender, Siempelkamp was particularly convincing with its condition monitoring system – the "magic eye" ensures quality and reduces downtimes and wear thanks to predictive maintenance.

The new Siempelkamp plant is intended for the production of semi-finished products. he new open-die forging press forges with up to 31.5MN, upsetting is possible with up to 35 MN.

Convincing factor "magic eye": optimum, predictive maintenance

Siempelkamp's condition monitoring system "magic eye" was the decisive factor for the decision of the new Chinese customer in the tender. With this system Siempelkamp meets the demand in the machinery and plant engineering industry to advance process optimization, risk control, and predictive maintenance on the basis of big data analyses. "Our condition monitoring system 'magic eye' provides plant operators with a holistic overview of the plant condition and potential risks. On this basis, preventive action can be taken before a risk causes an actual intervention case. We also increase both machine productivity and product quality, while reducing service calls, especially maintenance costs. In this way we prevent production errors, eliminate downtimes, and secure considerable cost advantages for our customers in this way," says Samiron Mondal, Management of the Siempelkamp Group.

The "magic eye" graphically displays all relevant operating parameters at a glance in a form similar to the human eye. The subject of the "magic eye" monitoring are the performance data of the hydraulics, the performance of the main filters, valves, seals, the mechanical guide system, the shock movements, the auxiliary movements, the main and high-pressure pumps, and the hydraulic medium. The overall concept provides Pangang Jiangyou Changcheng with an integrated condition monitoring system for the new open-die forging press.
