IQ” digital platform

“IQ” – that is the name of the new platform that is now available to our customers as a new, holistic digital approach.. With “IQ”, wood-based panel plants can be controlled more selectively, simply, and more efficiently, as all digital Siempelkamp products and services are now grouped together in a single location.

With “IQ”, our customers receive all digital processes and tools that are relevant in the life cycle of their plant at a glance and linked in a uniform manner. This ensures consistency and optimal control of the largest three performance areas essential for efficient and safe operation of a wood-based panel plant: management, service, and communication /documentation.

The three service areas of the digital platform "IQ" culminate in the newly bundled modules „”Manage – Service – Connect“.

Manage

Features

  • Document management (single source of truth) – quotations, operating instructions, drawings, etc.
  • Mailbox, messenger function

Manage

“Manage” stands for plant monitoring, control and optimization, meaning it incorporates performance and condition monitoring of plant health. Here, a special application package aptly named prodIQ.health allows statements to be made on the state of wear and tear of individual plant components as well as the total plant. Faults can be detected and corresponding instructions issued. Apart from that, it is possible to make predictions, e.g., on wear and tear mechanisms. Based on this information, the maintenance intervals can be planned and optimized so that plant health is ensured through regularly scheduled and targeted check-ups. “IQ” then directly links to the second major performance area, service, which is right there with spare parts recommendations for example.

“Manage” also includes online quality control and optimization as well as all aspects of increasing efficiency. It also covers the increasingly important aspect of plant autonomy that Siempelkamp has introduced to the market with its concept of a self-teaching, self-optimizing plant that is continuously being expanded. Here you can access all the functions of the modular Prod-IQÒ MES-system we are already familiar with. The data acquired is assigned to each other, processed, and flows into the optimizations. All participants can easily, selectively use the data here centrally. This is all coordinated by the”Manage" application area in accordance with the Siempelkamp concept that has already been proven many times in the market

Service

Within this module, the digital platform groups together newly focused digital service management with many assets for plant operators. This includes service predictions and offers, remote service and online maintenance, as well as a fitness check and modernization recommendations. The online spare parts catalog, service assistants such as e.g., a scheduling assistant can be accessed here, as well as webinars and training sessions which purposefully train the staff quickly on the respective plant assembly. To generate a standardized concept in the names as well, this ‘IQ’ module has the name servIQ, analogous to the prodIQ module family that has already been introduced.

Connect

“Connect”, the third IQ module, provides all functions essential for a digital communication interface in the context of a wood-based panel plant. This includes clearly structured document management set up within the new digital platform as a “Single Source of truth”. All documents from the life cycle of a plant – e.g., quotations, operating instructions, and drawings – are available here at a glance. This means that the whole life cycle of the plant is shown centrally and transparently. This is also especially important when new staff members are to be given a comprehensive impression of the plant concept or updates are to be entered into the document inventory. The interface also includes a mailbox or messenger function which makes communication about anything to do with the plant and all customer requirements much easier. In accordance with the module logic, this third area is given the name docIQ to go with prodIQ and servIQ.

What makes the new digital platform "IQ" so valuable?

On the one hand, it is the numerous, greatly differentiated services that already exist and from which plant operators already benefit today These have now been bundled together in ‘IQ’ with useful additions so that the actual added value of ‘IQ’ now exists in the complete ‘everything everywhere’ solution. What is the point of the best assets if our customers’ staff does not have targeted access to all available functions and services at a glance and in one place? This consistency and transparency make up the special value of our new platform – and we are proud to be able to show this at LIGNA 2023 as a trade fair attraction at the Siempelkamp booth”, says Pedro Robles-Malagrino, Head of Siempelkamp Automation Technology.
