Acceptance in record time: First composites press system made by Siempelkamp for a US customer successfully in operation
Only 44 weeks lie between the signing of the contract and successful acceptance – a complete success for the Siempelkamp project teams. The SMC press system with a press force of 1,200 US tons was accepted to the operator's complete satisfaction.
Initially, the press was completely assembled and commissioned in Krefeld, Germany, in order to make the actual commissioning process at the customer's site even more efficient. Shipment in a few defined pre-assembly units – frame packages, hydraulic platform, press table and ram, switchgear cabinets and peripherals - also ensured an optimum, above all streamlined process flow.
In only four weeks, the Siempelkamp teams from the machinery and plants business unit and the machine factory carried out the assembly and commissioning at the customer's site. This deployment of own assembly personnel also contributed to the smooth running of the project on the construction site.
A complete success which the Siempelkamp Composites team is very happy about, especially since the project will again represent a special milestone for the US customer in 2019 after three successful acceptance tests in Russia and Poland. "These projects confirm the great trust that is placed in our composites expertise internationally. It is all the more pleasing that all the acceptance tests were carried out to the satisfaction of our customers", says Sascha Braun, Sales Manager Composites.
