Krefeld, April 28, 2017 – Siempelkamp Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH recorded positive results for the 2016 financial year. Incoming orders for the Machinery and Plants business unit in the reporting year 2016 amounted to € 500.8 million and thus exceeded the previous year figure by € 36.8 million (2015: € 464 million). The sales target for the number of incoming orders, which was conservatively projected with modest expectations, was clearly overachieved. Especially in the wood-based panel industry significant orders could be won. Eleven plants were sold. The order from the Swiss Krono Group for a complete MDF/HDF plant in Barnwell, USA, is especially gratifying. The scope of supply includes the complete range of services of Siempelkamp Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH. Additionally, the company received important orders from Europe, India, China, Thailand, USA, and Australia.

Pallmann expertise - a gain for the company

In 2017 Siempelkamp is prepared to provide a scope of supply that offers even higher versatility. The complete integration of Pallmann Maschinenfabrik into the Siempelkamp Group has expanded the product portfolio by key products and services in the area of size reduction and recycling technology. Pallmann manufactures all machines for the size reduction of wood as well as the preparation of various raw materials for use in the production of particleboard, OSB or MDF/HDF. As a specialist in recycling, Pallmann also uses its comprehensive expertise for the preparation of waste wood which is used in large amounts for the production of wood-based materials.

Furthermore, the company runs the world’s largest industrial research and technology center for size reduction technology and thus enhances the research and development activities of the Group. With Pallmann as a 100% subsidiary, Siempelkamp can now offer all components of wood-based material production plants – ranging from energy generation, to the debarking of tree trunks, to wood fiber preparation, to the continuous ContiRoll® press, all the way to storing the finished wood-based boards.

Additional connecting points can be found in the area of fiber-reinforced plastics in which Siempelkamp has successfully positioned itself in recent years. Here, Pallmann contributes with comprehensive knowledge about fiber plastic composites (FPC), which are obtained from agglomeration processes and contain natural fibers such as hemp, and about cork or wood plastic composites (WPC) made of wood flour and plastic material. These innovative plastics based on natural fibers meet a high level of interest in the market. Pallmann also possesses excellent know-how in the area of recycling technology, especially in the recycling of carbon-fiber reinforced plastics.
