Trust, but verify

In order to guarantee the product quality demanded by our customers, to fulfil the statutory requirements, and to continuously improve our company processes, Siempelkamp Giesserei has installed an integrated management system for quality, environmental protection and occupational health and safety.

Quality assurance for the highest possible customer satisfaction is our top priority. In order to achieve this at all times, all tests on the raw materials used are planned and implemented by our quality control centre, all the way up to the final inspection of the final cast product.

Various modules for quality assurance ensure a transparent and reliable project handling process:

  • Mechanical technology testing
  • Metallographic inspections
  • Spectral analysis
  • Manual non-destructive testing (ultrasonic, magnetic powder, penetration testing and visual inspections) on metallic materials and welded connections.

As an accredited foundry testing laboratory, we perform the following tests:

BABTEC: this is our CAQ system with modules from the automotive industry. CAQ stands for "Computer Aided Quality". According to the saying: 'a picture tells a thousand words', figures and videos make test instructions clearer. This allows reaction times to be shortened and processes to be quickly customised and optimised. With a traffic-light system, measures are automatically tracked and completed.

Cockpit: This development of Siempelkamp Foundry displays information on the current effectiveness of a casting project, from the special technical features of the respective components to the cleanliness of the production locations.
Here, too, the transparency of the project work is supported by a traffic-light system.

HG-Visutec: This module is also an "in-house development". Operating instructions and current data on the status of a project are saved in this quality component, as are messages regarding production changes. Within our casting production areas, there are terminals installed where this information can be called up by employees.

Six Sigma or "zero defect": this is a schedule for employees with the objectives of achieving zero defects, the highest possible process security and efficiency for cast components.
