G. Siempelkamp GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Krefeld, Germany, has achieved record results in 2007 regarding the total order quantity and sales volume.
The Siempelkamp Group, a world market leader in continuous press lines for the wood-based products industry, operates worldwide in the areas of machine building, foundry technology and nuclear technology. All three business areas achieved tremendous success in 2007. The total order value is anticipated to exceed 700 million Euros. Total sales will be around 500 million Euros. “The utilization of all business units is secured until mid-2009,” says Dr. Hans W. Fechner, CEO of G. Siempelkamp GmbH & Co. KG.
Expansion of production capacities The machine building branch of the company was the most successful unit in 2007. As part of the forming and press lines for wood-based products, the continuous press ContiRoll® was sold 20 times. Because of the ongoing strong demand Siempelkamp will expand the production capacities for continuous presses in order to shorten the waiting period. These measures will take effect in the fourth quarter of 2008. “The expansion of our production capacities is a significant criterion for securing our economic success,” says Fechner.
Successful integration of new business units With 70 percent the machinery and plants business unit is the largest within the Siempelkamp Group. The foundry technology comprises of 20 percent. Following in third place is the nuclear technology business unit with 10 percent. In order to complement the company’s portfolio in the areas of service and electrical energy equipment Siempelkamp Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH & Co. KG acquired in 2007 Metso Panelboard from the Finnish Metso company. With the acquisition of NIS Ingenieurgesellschaft, a specialist for calculations in the area of nuclear physics and software supported diagnostic systems, Siempelkamp’s nuclear technology unit strengthened its capacities and advanced to the third largest provider of engineering services for nuclear power plants in Germany.
