In the future, Vietnam will produce MDF/HDF on Siempelkamp equipment: VRG Dong Wha, a joint stock company located in Minh Hung in the Binh Phuoc province signed a contract in June for a Siempelkamp MDF/HDF plant.

VRG/Dongwha is the joint venture of the rubber manufacturer Vietnamese Rubber Group (VRG) and the Korean Dong Wha Company, Asia’s largest manufacturer of MDF. The foundation for this $120 million investment was laid on July 13, 2010. The plant will be equipped with an 8’ x 47 m ContiRoll® press which will make it the largest MDF plant in Asia. Siempelkamp will also be responsible for the engineering of the plant and a large portion of the front-end equipment. The scope of supply includes a drum chipper, chip storage, screens, conveyors, silos as well as a fiber dryer and a fibre sifter which is custom-designed for fibers produced from rubber tree. The complete glue blending system will also be supplied by Siempelkamp

Next to the forming and press line, the Krefeld company is supplying three diagonal saws, the cooling and stacking line, full automatic storage system, sanding line as well the cut-to-size line with a book saw, and two automatic packing lines. The scope of supply is completed by SicoScan, the Siempelkamp tools for optimal quality control. Sicoscan is the overall concept of measuring equipment to measure the fibre moisture after the dryer and on the forming line, mat weight tolerances behind the matformer, board thickness control and blow detection at the press outfeed as well as for determining board weight.

The MDF/HDF plant, which is anticipated to start operating in 2012, is designed for a daily capacity of 1,200 m³ of board. The plant is going to be fed by the rich wood resources from the Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Dak Nong provinces. The produced MDF/HDF boards will be mostly used for the domestic market as well for exports. The goal is to signifi-cantly advance the modernization and industrialization of the Binh Phuoc province with this plant. The assembly of this plant is anticipated to start in May 2011.
