Krefeld/Hanover, Germany, April 19, 2010 - The Siempelkamp Group demonstrates its competence as a leading supplier of large finish-machined castings for wind energy generation and provision of continuous flow production systems. The supply of large component parts for wind power plants is next to biomass power plants the second main focus at the Siempelkamp stand (hall 27, stand G16) in the Renewable Energy section of this year’s Hanover trade fair. Next to energy generation and heat insulation using wood, Siempelkamp is represented as a leading supplier of ready-to-install castings made of cast iron with nodular graphite for wind power stations. With the company-owned foundry for castings with a weight of up to 300 tons (330 US tons) and the world's largest portal milling machine, which carries out the subsequent machining of these parts, Siempelkamp supplies precision parts from one source. At the fair Siempelkamp will demonstrate its skills with the help of a 13 tons (14.3 US tons) hub. This hub will be transported on the patented RoundTrack® floor rail system, a product of the company's subsidiary Strothmann. Dr. Hans Fechner: "With this real-life casting of a finished hub, we are demonstrating Siempelkamp's large potential as a supplier to companies generating wind energy." Continuous flow production systems boost potentials for improvements in productivity The subsidiary company Strothmann supplies equipment for continuous flow production systems. The company’s scope of services ranges from concept development, to engineering, to production, to installation and startup of such systems. Continuous flow production allows for a denser utilization of the available production areas and reduces the assembly times by up to 50%. Strothmann equipment transports oversized components such as rotor blades and airplane parts as well as heavy components including wind turbines, complete machine tools or wind gearboxes with ease. In cooperation with companies building custom machines, Strothmann provides complete systems solutions, for example, for tape layer, winding, and riveting machines. Siempelkamp is presenting its solutions for renewable energy production at the Hannover Messe from April 19 to 23 in hall 27, booth G 16.
