The company is founded by Gerhard Siempelkamp. The drilling of hot platens revolutionizes the textiles industry.

 

 

ab 1900

The first cold presses for the gluing of veneer are made.

 

 

ab 1920

Siempelkamp presses have an outstanding reputation. Now they are also being manufactured for other applications, such as metal forming.

 

 

1924

Siempelkamp's iron and metal foundry is founded to supply cast parts for the machinery manufacturing factory.

 

 

ab 1930

The first fiber presses and associated drier systems and conveyor systems are developed. This year also sees the start of the company's involvement in process technology.

 

 

ab 1931

The first plywood presses and equipment are exported to America

 

 

1954

The first complete particle board line is built.

 

 

1965

The foundry makes the primary shielding for the atomic reactor on the MS "Otto Hahn".

 

 

ab 1969

The first MDF line is made.

 

 

ab 1975

Development of the Castor® makes good progress at the foundry.

 

 

1976

New metal shop built, switch to electric induction furnaces

 

 

1979

A new product is born: OSB – on Siempelkamp machines

 

 

1983

1st foundry sets world record: 168 t frames for 4,000 t forging press

 

 

1985

The revolution: Siempelkamp makes history with an innovative continuous press for the production of wood-based panels, the ContiRoll®.

 

 

1987

New world record: 188 t cross head for 15,000 t deformation press

 

 

1989

Start up for CARLA plant (Centrale Anlage zum Recyclieren Leichtaktiver Abfälle – Central Recycling Facility for Low Level Radioactive Waste) for the decontamination of metals by means of melting process

 

 

1991

New world record: 195 t open-ended wrench for cement mill in Indonesia

 

 

1993

New blasting shop

 

 

1996

New metal shop opens - largest hand-mold foundry in the world

 

 

1997

Siempelkamp Nuclear Technology is founded.

 

 

1998

Once more a world record: The first ever moving cross-head weighing 260 tons is cast.

 

 

1998

Startup of GERTA plant (Großtechnische Einschmelzanlage zum Recyclieren Toxischer Abfälle – Toxic Waste Treatment Plant) for decontamination of chemically-toxic waste by means of melting process.

 

 

2001

First casting of the then biggest-ever foundry components for wind turbines (approx. 5MW)

 

 

2002

Company restructure under joint management of G. Siempelkamp GmbH & Co. KG

 

 

2004

New processing centre at Mühlheim/Ruhr in Germany

 

 

 

2006

Siempelkamp continues to be the world champion in the production of large cast parts made of ductile cast iron and the world leader in the manufacture of presses for the wood-based panels industry. In addition, with its Castor®, Siempelkamp is the biggest producer of cask bodies for the nuclear industry.
